A Thirst-Quenching Ministry

Thirsty!

That's the simply, universal, irrefutable dilemma of the human race. Quenching that thirst is at the very core of existence.

Scholars have disagreed. Some have championed such things as sex, food, clothing, shelter, and the need to be loved, as life's motivating force. But the Bible is very specific – man has a thirst problem.

At a well, Jesus told the Samaritan woman: Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life (John 4:13-14).

Solomon drank deeply from the world's well. Later he wrote: Vanity of vanities; all is vanity (Ecclesiastes 1:2).

The king exhausted himself on the world. Education, wealth, power – wine, women, and song – all were his. SOLOMON'S THIRST PERSISTED.

Augustine, the great 4th century theologian, drank from the second well. His concise prayerful testimony was: O God thou hast created man for thyself and man is restless until he repose in thee. AUGUSTINE'S THIRST WAS QUENCHED.

Nothing has really changed. King Solomon lived 3,000 years ago, but humanity is still drinking from the same broken cisterns of education, wealth, power – wine, women, and song. Today, drugs, the occult, and the consumption of popular entertainment can be added to the list.

How timeless the words of the wise: As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country (Proverbs 25:25).

It was from a far country that God sent to earth the good news of the Gospel. It alone can eternally quench humanity's perpetual thirst.

I want you to know that our national and international staff at Zion's Hope is pouring out the water of life. Regrettably, many allow the water to disappear into the crevices of this world, but some ¬РJews and Gentiles alike Рare drinking deeply to be eternally satisfied.

Thanks so very much for sustaining our thirst-quenching ministry.
