"The Two-Phase Coming of the Lord?"
There are differing opinions concerning the Rapture of the Church and the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus, but which one is correct? There is no consensus, but one thing is clear: in the Western Church, the most POPULAR Rapture and Second Coming viewpoint is the Pretribulational one.
According to Pretrib, the Rapture and Return of the Lord Jesus is one, singular event -- but separated by 7 years. In other words, Christ raptures the Church at the beginning of Daniel's 70th Week, but doesn't return to Earth until 7 years later. Can this really be called one, singular event? Shouldn't it be two separate events?
Why does the Pretribulational Rapture and Second Coming view require a 7-year gap? Why this "2-phase coming of Christ?"
